- Dmitri Contoyannis will be here to discuss how IES’s Virtual Environment software is used to analyze a building’s performance and provide the understanding necessary to design more sustainable projects.
Dimitri’s mechanical engineering career has focused on working with architects and engineers to successfully deliver sustainable design projects around the world. Dimitri currently leads IES’s consulting division in providing analysis services to help project teams understand and quantify which high-performance strategies are most effective for their building and in their climate. Early in the design process, it is important to understand the relationship between a building’s energy consumption and carbon impact, daylight availability, applicability of natural ventilation and other passive strategies, the occupants’ thermal comfort, and other performance metrics. As the design progresses, this understanding can be used to optimize the design.
Dimitri is a registered Professional Engineer in California, LEED AP, CEM, and a contributing author to the ASHRAE Green Guide.
